Musical studies

Tudor Niculescu-Mizil graduated at the National University of Music in Bucharest in 2010, classical guitar specialization, at the class of Cătălin Ștefănescu Pătrașcu. Between 2010-2012 he studied with the renowned pedagogue Carlo Marchione, finishing his master degree programme with the distinction „cum laude” at the Academy of Music in Maastricht, the Netherlands. In 2016 he completed his doctoral studies under the guidance of prof. Șerban-Dimitrie Soreanu with the “Excellent” ranking of his thesis.

Educational activities

From 2012 till present he is a classical guitar teacher at Arts School no. 5 in Bucharest, Romania.

Tudor Niculescu-Mizil is the organizer and the artistic director of the International Classical Guitar Competition Emerging Talents.

Improvements studies

The passing of time was a period of constant professional training, in which Tudor participated in masterclasses held by great classical guitar personalities from around the world including: Carlo Marchione,  Pavel Steidl, Judicael Perroy, Ricardo Jesus Garcia Gallen, Costas Cotsiolis, Gerhard Reichenbach, Maurizio Colonna, Flavio Sala, Ioana Gandrabur, Silfredo Perez, Ioseph Urshalmi, Bosko Radojkovici.

Results with students

As a teacher, Tudor Niculescu-Mizil has managed to achieve over 150 prizes with his students.

Tudor is a regular member of specialized juriues in national and international competitions in Romania such as „Eduard Pamfil” International Guitar Competition, „Sinaia” International Guitar Festival, „Emerging Talents” International Guitar Competition, „Severin” International Guitar Festival, „Amadeus” National Music Competition, „Musica Vera” National Music Competition, etc.

Recitals

As an interpreter, Tudor is invited to take part in international guitar festivals including „Sinaia” International Guitar Festival, „Harmonia Cordis” International Guitar Festival, „Eduard Pamfil” International Guitar Fetival, „Severin” International Guitar Festival. Moreover, Tudor Niculescu-Mizil apears in performances on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum – both individually and in chamber ansambles – on the stage of „Mihail Jora” Radio Studio of the Romanian Broadcasting and becomes a permanent guest in long artistic projects developed by prestigious Romanian cultural institutions: „Dimitrie Gusti” Village Museum, Humanitas Libraries, Radio Romania Music, Trinitas Television. His interest also focused on giving recitals in artistic cultural events outside the borders of Romania: Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Budapest (Hungary), Eindhoven, Maastricht (The Netherlands).

Prizes

His very good technique, special musicality and intelligent interpretation have been remarked and rewarded over time in numerous awards in competitions and festivals.

The first prize in „Pietra Ligure”-Italy International Music Competition in 2000 was followed by many other prizes received during 2000-2003, under the guidance of prof. Cătălin Ștefănescu-Pătrașcu at all the editions of the „Sinaia” International Guitar Festival (young guitarists section) and of the „Eduard Pamfil” Guitar Festival in Bucharest.

Moreover, during the same period, Tudor Niculescu-Mizil received gold medals in all the editions of the „Garabet Avachian” National Music Competition, in two of which he won, besides the maximum score, special jury prizes.

In 2008, Tudor Niculescu-Mizil returns to the „Sinaia” International Guitar Festival, this time as a student of the National University of Music in Bucharest and gets the second prize  of the “Masters” category.

CD

His CD, „Romantic guitar”, launched in 2015 combines romantic sensitivity and expressivity with interpretative virtuosity, enjoying a real succes among classical guitar lovers.

Publications

Beside his activity as a soloist and professor, Tudor Niculescu-Mizil is also a present figure in the field of classical guitar publications. In 2017 appeared his book entitled „Technical and interpretative guitar hypostasis in the creation of the composer Mauro Giuliani”. In 2018 Tudor Niculescu-Mizil arranged a collection of carols – 10 arrangements for classical guitar. Both books were published under the aegis of the Music Publishing House in Romania.
