Musical studies
Tudor Niculescu-Mizil is a classical guitarist, teacher, and Doctor of Music. He graduated from the National University of Music Bucharest in 2010, studying under Professor Cătălin Ștefănescu-Pătrașcu. He continued his studies at the Maastricht Academy of Music in the Netherlands, where he earned his Master’s degree in 2012 with the distinction Cum Laude, under the guidance of the renowned Carlo Marchione. In 2016, he was awarded a PhD in Music at the National University of Music Bucharest, receiving the grade Excellent, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Șerban-Dimitrie Soreanu.
Teaching activity
Since 2012, Tudor Niculescu-Mizil has been a tenured teacher at the School of Arts No. 5 in Bucharest, where he has dedicated his work to training numerous young musicians. His students have won over 200 prizes at national and international classical guitar competitions.
He is a frequent member of juries at prestigious competitions such as:
- The Sinaia International Guitar Festival
- The “Eduard Pamfil” International Competition, Bucharest
- The “Harmonia Cordis” Festival, Târgu Mureș
- The “Talente în afirmare” Competition, Bucharest
- The national competitions “Amadeus,” “Bucuria Muzicii,” “Musica Vera,” and others.
Organizational Highlights
Tudor is the founder and artistic director of the “Guitar Talents” International Classical Guitar Competition, which in 2025 celebrates its 13th edition. This competition has become an important landmark in Romania’s educational and artistic landscape.
